A hearing test evaluates your hearing threshold (softest audible sound) at different pitches, as well as your speech discrimination at normal conversational and amplified levels.
Plus, impedance testing, or middle ear evaluation, is also performed, which helps gather information about the function of the tympanic membrane, the ossicular chain and the Eustachian tube (the tube that connects the middle ear to the nasopharynx and helps equalise pressure when diving, for instance).
These tests help determine the type and degree of hearing loss, possible causes of hearing loss, and help us choose the appropriate treatment for you.
A hearing test is painless, simple, non-invasive, and fast.
If a hearing loss is diagnosed, the best form of hearing aid will be discussed with you. These could include hearing aids, Bone Anchored Hearing Aids (BAHA), Cochlear Implants, or assistive listening devices.
